Questions to Ask at the Interview

  1. What are you looking for in an ideal resident for your program?
  2. It is widely understood that no program offers everything. If you had unlimited funds and resources, what would you change or add to your program.
  3. How is morale in your program?
  4. What brought you to this program?
  5. What are this year’s residents planning for next year?  Where have graduating residents in the last few years gone?
  6. What percentage of your graduating residents go into fellowships?  Academic Practice?  Private Practice?
  7. What has been the largest improvement in your program in the last five years?
  8. Are there any major changes scheduled in the next few years?
  9. Is there anything about this program that surprised you when you started working here?  (i.e.  Something unexpected that you did not learn when you came to interview.)
